Hello again home designers! Trust that you've had a really great week! One of our findings across multiple interior design styles, is the strong advocation of sustainability and eco-friendliness, calm and relaxing spaces, and natural wood features.

Now, adding beautiful natural wood tones to your home's interior, can be a bit tricky. To achieve that natural gentle look, you have to know how to mix wood tones the right way. We strongly advise that you stick to only two main wood tones, and only add a third for accent purposes. Hope that helps to clear things up a bit. Here are some more essential tips:

Tip 1: For your wood interior design, you either choose to design your interior with warm wood tones or with cool wood tones as your base. The cool wood tones are the dark woods. Your selection of wood, will serve as the foundation tone you'll work with and furnish on.

Tip 2: Choose a dominant wood tone and an accent wood tone. Your dominant wood tone can go almost anywhere. While your accent wood tones, will be meticulously placed for contrast and pizazz.

Tip 3: Watch your wood grains! Grains in woods can make a room feel busy. Only select woods that have a more subtle, clean look and feel, like white oak and maple 🍁.

If you're using real wood for your wood interiors, we highly recommend using oak wood. There are many species of oak to choose from. The good news is that they are all strong and hard, and are water, fungi, and insect resistant. The icing on the cake is that the wood grain of oak is very attractive, so they stain and polish really well.

Most importantly, oak is highly durable and will stand the test of time in your home. That being said, future generations will enjoy the oak features as well, which is a major plus on the sustainability spectrum. On the other hand, if you're big on eco-friendliness, opt for bamboo. Bamboo is also strong, durable and sustainable, and it will definitely give that wooden appearance you're going for. Since bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth, it will be replenished in no time and your eco-friendly footprint will be intact.
